Welcome

Do you prefer english?

Welcome to the website of the Pinetown Congregation. All the Afrikaans content of this website is summed up on this page for anyone who prefers English.

We are a small congregation with a family-friendly environment in Durban. There are a number of young families with children as well as older people who are at home here.

If you would like to attend one of our services, please don't hesitate to come. We would appreciate a head's up in order for us to organise someone to translate for you. Please don't let the language barrier put you off. We could also refer you to some like-minded English churches.
You can contact us at: andries@resolvekzn.co.za

About us

Who we are

We are a community of believers in the western parts of Durban. We follow Jesus as He leads us through the Holy Spirit and the Bible, to the glory of God and in love towards our community. We want to put the truths of the Bible first in our expression of our faith as it is stated in the reformed confessions, Heidelberg Catechism, Belgic Confession and the Canon of Dordt. We evaluate our practices in order to stay relevant for our time and context.

What we believe and teach

As the visible body of Christ in the communities where we live, we take the whole Bible as our absolute foundation (Sola Scriptura). Our reconiliation with God is through Christ alone (Sola Christo) by grace alone (Sola Gratia) and through faith alone (Sola Fide).

God is the King of all things to whom all of man have rebelled in sin. It is only through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ that we are reconciled through faith in Christ to walk again with God. The love of Christ, through the work of the Holy spirit, changes our hearts. The love of God in us overflows in self-sacrificing love to others. Our love is not determined by their response but by the abundant love of Christ in us.

Our relationships reflects Christian discipleship as a demonstration for others to duplicate. The Holy Spirit is the source which transforms us through growth in faith to become more like Jesus Christ. Everything on our lives should be focused to honour God as our only King. Thus making his Kingdom visible in and through our lives.

ISIZULU Bible Distribution project

The Reformed congregations in KwaZulu-Natal South are joining forces to distribute at least 570 isiZulu Bibles in 2020.
Classis KwaZulu-Natal South decided on 3 Sep. 2019 decided to utilise the release of the new isiZulu Bible translation in 2020 as an opportunity for mutual love, evangelism and outreach to the larger Zulu community in KwaZulu-Natal.

Why?
The 2020 isiZulu Bible translation by the Bible Society of SA promises to be much more understandable to contemporary Zulu speakers. It can unlock the wonders of God's Word with new enthusiasm in the community.

This fundraising project and the distribution of the Bibles goes hand in hand with the Bible Society's goal to distribute two million Bibles in 2020, as part of their 200-year anniversary.

What happens to the Bibles?
Each Zulu-speaking Reformed congregation (six) will receive 50 Bibles for the aim to keep half the Bibles for their own use, and handing out the other half in their community.

Each Zulu-speaking Mukhanyo / DOCENDA theological student and former student in Southern KwaZulu-Natal will receive three Bibles. One Bible for personal use and two to hand out in their communities.

We believe that handing out Bibles in communities will lead to growth in relationships and outreach to others in their communities.

How much money should be raised?
The minimum target is R50 000 by 30 May 2020. If we raise more, then we will distribute more Bibles!

What can you do?
Your congregation or individuals are requested to raise funds so that those who have many give much, and those who have few give little. Take your own initiative.

Pay the money with "Zulu Bible" as a reference to the Classis account: Bank: Nedbank Amanzimtoti; Branch code: 130 627; Check Account No: 130 608 2161; Account Name: “Klassis Natal Suid”

Turnaround Conference

This is an annual conference held on the second Saturday of May, in Kloof (Durban). The goal is to encourage the congregations and individuals to be obedient to the mission of God (John 20:21), to determine ministry practices from the Word rather than tradition; and to establish prayer ministry for repentance and revival. The conference is attended by Reformed churches throughout KwaZulu-Natal, as well as churches from other denominations.
